Come along with on a Winter Camping Adventure, this time in 4K!
Film maker, Chris Prouse and I head out in search of a winter snowstorm.
We have to change plans on the fly, and travel much farther north than anticipated to escape freezing rain, and find a snowstorm, in...THE GHOST RANGE
This was an awesome adventure, and I am very happy to have had a camera person with me for the first time.
Chris shot and edited this whole video. I am blown away by how it turned out, please go visit her channel, subscribe if you like her stuff, and give her a compliment, she deserves it :)

well we're driving somewhere near Sudbury in Northern Ontario right now plan is to plan was to hike up a mountain in the snow tomorrow the snowstorm encamped on the top because that sounds epic sounds like something real fun to do a problem is doesn't get too cold until very late.
Tomorrow night we're supposed to go tomorrow morning all day tomorrow and doesn't get too cold till tomorrow night's was feel like negative 15 negative 17 degrees Celsius tomorrow but all day plus one and great hundred percent chance of rain all day so hiking in that and then camping at negative 15 is just a hypothermic situation waiting.
To happen snow till 10:00 in the morning and then after that it only shows till 3:00 but 90 percent chance of rain the rest of the day that's not good oh it's going up the hike up the ghost range peak that sounds promising everything has a name for a reason.
Doesn't it okay so kind of funny we are here right now we weren't gonna go here but now we're gonna go yeah oh there's a spot there's a spot we can see through Thanks I can't see really well my windshield right now I ran out of windshield wiper fluid about a half an hour ago and luckily there was.
A gas station right there so we stopped got some more fluid got it got it in there and have driven for maybe 35 minutes and we're completely out of which the wiper fluid again it's negative 14 degrees Celsius outside right now so everything that hits the windshield is just immediately freezing it off to a great start.
Yeah I guess so this is the second bottle I put it in a half an hour we're all squared away with her windshield wiper fluid now I'm gonna people I was with at it's kind of lacking on its own it's Oh Mike Mike Jets our turn jetting very good or no it's fun what's happening but there's no spurts.
Every now and then but this thing down oh oh there we go come on it see what I mean no it freezes right up as soon as it stops you better be getting close now I can't really tell you because we lost all of data and we are headed into the abyss it is just a crapshoot I know looking at the maps last night we're coming up this.
Highway and then there's gonna be a tea at the top and a 101 highway 101 we have to hang a left the weather today is pretty cold we're sitting at around negative 15 right now expected to hop down to negative 19 a little bit colder than we were expecting well we found snow so that's good excited to get out of the car start.
Hiking I've never been here at all I'm hoping that my truck can push it as far as it needs to go because it looks like he's getting snowy oh yeah I can see her now she's definitely a ghostie drain she feed both look at okay we got we got our intersection here here's the tea it's a good thing that all of the signage is.
Covered by snow that's really helpful go back 23 I can see that that way no no logging trucks barreling down this one one West okay so now is when we have to really start figuring out how to get where we need to go because this is the end of the room hmm there's a sign over there.
Well we found where we believe a couple entrances are to the trailhead the problem is I can access some one said no trespass and we think that might just be going the other way but regardless the the plows come and piled up a couple feet mate two or three feet of hard packed snow right at the entrances of all of the places you can leave your car.
And if I Drive down it at all it's gonna get stuck I know it it's quarter after one almost right now we have light until probably 4:45 at best and it's no joke she's a hill plowed goes by we wave from down there were nice enough to stop and come back and see if we need to help but said they couldn't plow us a spot in there but that a lot of the people that.
Come around here to go ice fishing in these back Lakes they plow this dis road extra wide so we can get off this side without being in the way of anything and if you look it's quite a distance so I feel fine leaving my truck here overnight and especially with the okay from the local warming up already.
Uh we got a little pellets of precipitation that might turn to snow your little Styrofoam ball these right now with this a good thing there's hiking down this Highway no the trailhead I'm going camping oh yeah Oh long hike like dizzy no long hike you can tell when or if there's all.
Jackpine here this is all conceives Jackpine tell small needles so pretty in here all these trees are Jackpine they're actually pretty large examples of them normally I've seen them lots more stunted you can tell the Jackpine by the double needle the small short fat needle and the tight comb.
They're a serratus cone serratus means they don't open until they get fire heat opens them up and then they the seeds disperse and that's how they reproduce is there a fire driven tree very good example of being in the north jack pine and black spruce yeah large tract here I love the snowshoe hare track they're named for their their.
Feet obviously they're super wide spread toes act like snowshoes better than these things and they can hop on top of the snow so the two front feet boom which you've have back feet together and off they go I feel really good I'm excited to be here it was a long time and then baking trying to find different places to go.
Trying to escape the rain all day and trying to find snow it gives me a sense of adventure I feel like I don't know what's around the next corner and that's what I really enjoy about being out in the woods it's like always exploring all around what's that what that next corner has to show you whether that be climbing a peak of a.
Mountain in the wintertime or canoeing your Algonquin Park in the summertime this that's part of what keeps getting you out there that that unknown that anything can change you're gonna have a somewhat of a plan but what you want to do where you want to go and how long it's gonna take but that never holds it never holds in the woods when you're out.
In the wilderness and that's that's a good feeling sometimes at the time it sucks but it's a type 2 type fun and yeah that's what keeps getting me out there you.
and wild-looking how is this it like there's a trail Chuck this old GPS and make sure this is where it's supposed to be well if it's just because of all the snow that that came down and kind of knocked everything down with the trail but looks overgrown well this is the.
Trail I'm gonna come to a bend soon welcome to the left nice skirt it is from the snow look it's all these saplings are buckled right over these aren't this is it ground this isn't like throwing from the ground this is buckled completely over across the trail the heavy heavy slush storm a couple weeks ago so just coming to terms.
With reality its 3:45 right now I'm looking at my GPS where maybe a quarter or the way their allotted enough time to get there like we had to hike on the road 1.6 klicks to get to this trailhead and we hiked that within probably five minutes and we've been on the trail for a very long time well over hour and a half two.
Hours and we haven't moved like we have not moved we have still all the way to go up and around up on top up on top of the mountain we haven't even started ascending yet so have to make the decision the safe call we're gonna call it we're just gonna hike onto some crown then we're almost there we've got another maybe around 15.
Minutes to go and Beyond some crown land the problem is the snow is way too deep we didn't we didn't realize how deep the snow was gonna be and how like it's really deep in how how slow would make us walk so like I said on the pavement we're good but in here it's 15 tons of slow so calls we made have to do it we're gonna just hike up here look for a.
Little bit of a clearing a shovel OH to space and set up the tent it's getting cold I can't even really just stand here anymore sir hiking girl the wind a little bit my problem is I don't see any firewood it's all birch and soaking wet spruce it doesn't look promising at all actually for firewood.
Birch does not burn well and unless you can find a dead spruce we'll figure it out well behind the scenes actually for you folks at home you got miss Chris Proulx trudging in here or their big old backpack I want to say thank you to Chris a big shut up for helping me with this video was her idea yeah it's been a fun time I'm learning a lot you can tell.
The difference in the quality of the video so go check Chris's channel oh she's got an awesome channel on youtube you guys actually he's seen her work before on my stranded series it's a go check her out on YouTube and give her a big thanks for helping this guy out yeah this is gonna be perfect there's a nice flat spot here off to the side pretty.
Decent size I think instead of shoveling it out because there's a lot of snow I'm just gonna tamp it down with my snowshoes make a big old spot enough for my tent to fit possibly a little fire pit don't call it good there don't really have much time to do too much here I'll leave my backpack on to help me.
With the extra weight to get this nice and solid one cent is definitely at the bottom it's so cold it hurts the hands I gotta keep I got a Chris graciously brought these warmers I gotta keep warming my hands up on them it's it hurts it's pretty curtsy cold the snow is very dry oh yeah it hurts.
Oh my hands got a little wet there and stuck to the pole okay good it's hard to my fingers one would have so much dexterity anymore it's hard to keep few things going I'm getting pretty chilled the rest of my body but it's cuz we stopped right when you're hiking you build it up all that warmth I didn't.
Feel the cold at all especially the backpack all that stuff the nature of it it's the nature of it so is accumulating pretty quickly be interesting to see how much we get overnight here we found the storm the snowstorm oh man so we brought our two-person tent this time it's plenty big enough for.
Both of us we wanted to divvy up the gear a little bit chris has a ton of filming gear and stuff it would make no sense for us to both bring our own tents and I feel like I should have mentioned to the people watching at home that we're both yeah that's not gonna that's not a matter this no matter was it yeah I'm not we'd be allowed to come play.
Anymore got the big season bag my trusty pillow you never leave home without it am i our high r-value sleeping pad which is important in the wintertime I only have one sleeping pad and it's laying right on well I'm doing this tiny buffer of still nylon right on the snow there's got to.
Be a warm one it's so snowy this is about 8:30 now you can cliff bars in the tent to live in that life wrapped up in my sleeping bag it's pretty cold outside it's been snowing like crazy it's almost time to go to bed just hoping that it doesn't snow too much so we can get over here at or morning but yeah really appreciate.
You my my sleeping bag tree how could it is cold our wake it's about 8:30 I see all tents all frosted up with ice there's a bunch of snow on top just check the weather it's negative 21 right now and it feels like negative 31 so that's that's pretty decent today it's not gonna get any warmer it's gonna drop.
Down a negative 28 today so the high of the high of today is negative 18 Celsius so it's not like it's gonna get any warmer laying in these sleeping bags I just can't bring myself to get out yet but we got to get out tear down camp smash some Clif bars and some water and get on out of here there's like a nine-hour drive between meeting up back.
Up with the other car and go home and Kris parting ways so we've got a full day of driving neither of us are gonna get home until dark tonight it is white out here man this is pretty take up Barry got two pegs back okay it's been too long let's get away from.
The cold where will you go take me there it's a long way to anywhere I will no way all worried no in my love kind of got plowed in a little bit here so we're gonna pop her into four-wheel drive and bust out of here Betsy.
Not too shabby you

Man I couldn’t attain that with out a rifle.
I judge losing that Ferro Rod changed into the suitable thing that ever came about to Joe. It changed into admire gasoline to his fire and burning ardour for the outdoors. That you simply might maybe well presumably if truth be told witness him former and learn as time goes on. Been rootin for you draw earlier than that express too Joe. Love the channrl brother.
I don’t judge he if truth be told stayed overnight
Chris continuously does a reliable job
Effectively Joe you left off the suitable portion, at the same time as you had been tearing it up😎. The suitable issues of being within the woods is that you might maybe well be furthermore convey out loud and no-one can hear you. I hope this changed into now not the case here 👍. A person and a females all on my own within the woods and in chilly snowing weather and on prime of that no fire to care for warm. How else is a man/females going to care for themselves warm with a hearth. 😉👄😉👅😉👄😉👄. You little 😈 devil Joe 👅👄👅
If I changed into to camp there for per week within the course of iciness attain I in truth settle on to inconvenience about Wolf's
