You what's going on guys black Scout survival and today we're taking a look at the first edge 550 or I'm sorry 50/50 survival knife and this knife is used by Naval Special Warfare Navy SEALs it's applied in one of their survival kits that they use I think a winter survival kit first edge is a got a contract with.

The US Navy from what I understand so they're issued knives unlike a lot of people you know everybody their son says they make this and that for Navy SEALs you know it's the they're like the hot topic so you know you got you know all kinds of guys saying they supply nice for Navy SEALs now just because the Navy SEAL buys your knife doesn't mean that.

Sure like a supplier of the Navy SEALs you know I mean not an official supplier so you know a lot of guys that they're like Ernest Emerson and stuff like that you know and they may have had contracts now I just hear them Daniel Winkler a bunch these guys say they you know supply not some Navy SEALs not sure the adult government contract or not but I.

Don't think so but these guys actually do have a contract with the Naval Special Warfare so this is a very hefty survival knife l max steel so L max you know we've we've used that before and talked about that before and it's a very good steel this one has g10 handles and these g10 handles are very mean very grippy I mean and it needs to be.

Especially I guess if you're in the Navy SEALs mess around on waters like that I'm very very grippy but I was point three three five inches thick has a heat treat of sixty sixty one that's a little bit on the high side and I seen a guy Kemmer his name but some video guy had one of these first edge knives and he had snapped the tip off and it could be.

Due to their high you know heat treat to make it really tough I would prefer my life to bend and break but however you seen in the video I tortured you know torture test of this tip because I really wanna make sure I tried in different types of wood just really try to break this tip off because I wanted it I wanted to break it I.

Wanted to break it if it was going to break that way you guys know you know what to purchase and what not to purchase but I couldn't break it so the blade is five point one two five inches and it kind of has that like Becker bk2 style blade I mean more refined than Becker bk2 but it kind of looks the same way eleven point two five inches overall.

It has a 1.47 packaged total weight the knife weighs seventeen point five ounces so this knife is just over a pound it has a saber grind even though the manufacturer says it's flat grind this is a saber grind guys whenever you have that line going through here that's that's a saber grind flat grind it's no babble just a straight continuous just.

So you guys know has a coarse textured g10 like I said it has a striking pommel you can see that like a glass breaker you can fight with it as a separate lanyard hole and as the black oxide finish now me personally I really like this knife I think it's a great knife it has it does have a sharper spine I didn't bring a fair cm rod with me but I.

Got a I tested it out already it does strike a pharisee run got a sharp edge but I mean really made just a good looking knife feels very good and it can chop you know do some file working a super sharp I'm not sure if you paid attention ernet remember I was making that feather state this thing is pretty doggone sharp so another feature is the.

Sheath have a you know conics sheath so it's got a one retention and wear this thing off so got that click in and has a secondary here and you really need that for jumping a pair of shooting operations you need the retention arm and nylon thick nylon webbing seeing attach to your belt war gear I guess whatever.

But again uh they said I really did want to break it it I seen it I seen one of their pocket folding knives which was a tanto tip break I can't lace that came from the guys name or I just sent a video so I afforded me a link and uh so I was uh you know I kind of was expecting that to happen this but to me this thing's beefy blade works go I.

Really like I'm telling I like this knife a lot but uh like I said you know I don't show you getting the hype of you know things like people say oh such as such the the ninja a recon tactical um Ranger you know knife or whatever I don't get in I kind of crap but I was in the military I understand military contracts or any of your military.

Contract your legit suppliers and military so that's the thing about this knife they're a legit supplier so it's not like some marketing ploy by saying all Naval Special Warfare Special Operations personnel using my knives this is a government contract but I just want to make that clear he's and a lot of people and they I know I did a video.
